I was so saddened to hear of Agnes’ passing away. I was fortunate enough to know Agnes and be her colleague for so many years. She was literally a rock in the law school. She was the go-to person for all things research, and so much more. She was also dedicated to the union as well. I remember Agnes as calm, steadfast, professional, hard-working, committed, principled, amazing, and warm. She had that kind of calm and collected way of doing things even under pressure, a force to be reckoned with. Her principledness will stay especially in my memory. For instance, not long ago, she ran every day to support colleagues who were doing the marking boycott in the university because her job did not involve marking. Such solidarity is just so inspiring. She was at every picket line, holding the fort and showing the way. Thank you so much Agnes for all you did for so many people including me (especially under tight deadlines for funding bids) and what you stood for. Your life was cut short far, far too soon, it is so unfair. You were a role model and had so much more to give, we must carry on your example. I am particularly sad for her mum whom I know she was visiting regularly in Italy and of course her partner. I hope both of them and all her family can find solace in knowing so many people benefitted from your kindness, they can be so proud of you. You will be so missed and always remembered.
